To eat second breakfast, of course ;)
I've been making a lot of sourdough bread lately. I made french toast with it, drizzled with agave nectar and blueberries on the side.
And I used the sourdough starter to make some flavorful, fluffy pancakes!
I even made sourdough pizzas! This yummy pie is topped with onions, olives, and I think mushrooms. Don't ask me why there's a chunk missing...
So last week, my mileage was a big fat ZERO. I had to take a forced hiatus from running, and all exercise, for that matter, because I had an unfortunate accident. It was so stupid, I am embarrassed to share. I went on my first group bike ride with a local bike club that I wanted to join last Saturday. In the middle of the ride, we came to a stop at an intersection and whelp, I basically fell sideways to the left and cut my right calf on the chain ring. How I fell was due to my stupidity... I had my left foot clipped into my pedal, and I was planning on just stepping off with my right foot when I came to a stop. I do this all the time with no problem, but that day, for some reason, I had my left foot bent when I stepped off, so when I lost balance and placed weight on my left foot, I lost all control and crashed hard on my left side.
I had a nice laceration on my right calf as it got scraped by the chain ring (that thing is damn sharp!). When I saw it, I knew immediately that I needed medical attention. Thank goodness it was a pretty clean cut, straight down to the fat (gross, I know :P ), missing major blood vessels, so it didn't bleed much at all. It didn't really hurt, either, and I didn't even notice it at first because my minor scrapes hurt more. I was also lucky that we were pretty close to home, so I called my mom and she picked my up and drove me to the emergency room.
I ended up getting 10 stitches that needed 12 days before they could come out. Today is day 11, so I can't wait to get them out tomorrow :) My wound is basically healed, and I've been running on it for the past 3 days. I know, probably not too smart, but I really want to run!
I'll post some pictures of before and after I get my stitches out. Something to look forward to :)
